Business Schools Form Network to Develop Leaders for the Global Economy

Source : Yale News
April 26, 2012

A group of 21 international business schools has formed the Global Network for Advanced Management, which will connect faculty, students, and deans with their peers in order to address the complex leadership issues in business and society worldwide. This is the first global network of business schools, and it includes institutions in both developed nations and emerging markets to better represent the global economy.

Deans and directors of Global Network schools will attend a launch meeting hosted by the Yale School of Management in New York and New Haven April 26–27.

"The main objective of the Global Network is to respond to the obvious economic trends in what many characterize as a flattening world," said Edward A. Snyder, dean of the Yale School of Management. "Economic power will be distributed widely, and enterprises in all sectors need leaders who understand how markets and organizations work in increasingly diverse and complex contexts. We are creating a more representative voice on the challenges facing leaders, and a more innovative way of educating the future leaders of the global economy."

Business schools have developed traditional partnerships for specific purposes such as student exchanges and joint degrees, within a limited set of countries. In contrast, relationships in the Global Network will be far-reaching and ongoing. Schools will use it to exchange ideas, share and develop course materials including case studies that incorporate specialized regional expertise from member schools, engage students in global team projects, and collaborate on data collection and faculty research. Schools can create initiatives within the Global Network; the Yale School of Management will leverage the Global Network through the Master of Advanced Management, a new degree program that will admit 12-15 exceptional graduates of Global Network schools for a one-year program of study at Yale.
