- International center of excellence established to leverage global software development and service expertise
- Strategy offers institutions a "plug and play approach" that enables innovation and can deliver a more competitive student experience
the global business software group, announced investment plans to establish an international center of excellence for education software to focus on the design, development and coordination of the delivery of its market leading education solution Agresso Education, based on the Agresso software suite. UNIT4's goal is to become the world-wide leading provider of integrated student & business management solutions. The initiative will enable higher education institutions to achieve more success by leveraging UNIT4's focused expertise and ongoing development of a single global education suite.
"The timing is ripe; globally, the higher education market is undergoing fundamental shifts and many of the dominant competitive applications in this space are based on dated technology that can no longer accommodate the sector's current or future requirements," says Shelley Zapp, president of UNIT4 Business Software in North America. "In addition, the economic climate is making it more challenging for higher education institutions to ensure high levels of student satisfaction and to offer a competitive student experience. The demand for enabling technology that can help institutions respond to ongoing and often unpredictable change has never been greater," adds Zapp.
UNIT4 has already seen success with world leading institutions, including a recent go-live of Agresso Education at Harvard Law School. With an established leadership position in education in the UK and Scandinavia, and growing momentum in North America and France, UNIT4 is combining know-how with investment and bringing its full international capacity to dominate this sector and engage with institutions as a long term partner.
The international center of excellence, located in Swansea, Wales, UK will tap development expertise in both the UK and North America, as well as domain knowledge and sector experience from around the world. The result of this collaboration will be the improved coordination and development of a fully-integrated Student, Human Resources, Business Engagement, Environmental Management, Research and Financial Management System capable of being delivered in a shared services model and in the cloud.
The group will be working with a newly formed central management team under the guidance of UNIT4 COO Ab van Marion. "We already have a strong track record in education in certain regions, and our strategy is to build on that success to become a leading player in the sector around the world," says van Marion.
"Institutions in many countries are opening international campuses to provide globally coordinated learning and research centers. This is creating a huge opportunity for UNIT4," says Anwen Robinson, UK managing director at UNIT4. "Other vendors are offering non-integrated, antiquated technology without the change agility our platform provides," she adds. UNIT4's experience working with global organizations, including private sector businesses as well as NGOs, will benefit educational institutions looking to go global.
UNIT4 is a leading provider of enterprise software for "Businesses Living IN Change (BLINC)(TM)" and its products are designed to support post-implementation business change. Its advanced and proven Agresso Development Platform Framework will provide the architecture for the new solution used by more than two million users, offering flexible delivery options via on-premise, hosted delivery, shared services or in the cloud.
UNIT4 has been supplying higher education software systems covering Finance, Students and HR to the education market since 1993, and now provides solutions to more than 800 institutions worldwide.
