NEW DELHI: The USIEF-IIE University Fair kicked off here Saturday with the participation of 46 American institutions. It is touted as the biggest education fair ever held in India.
These universities offer courses in various disciplines at graduate and undergraduate levels including, engineering, masters in business administration, fashion and interior design.
The United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) in cooperation with Institute of International Education (IIE)organises annual U.S. higher education fairs in India.
"We want Indian students to make the US better as they are really intelligent. They are really good," said Everett L. Jackson from University of Nevada, Reno.
"Engineering is quite popular among the students who want to study in the US," Renuka Rajarao country-coordinator, USIEF told mediapersons.
"The fair has some of the best universities from the US like Washington University and University of Southern California," Rajarao added.
When asked what brings University of Wisconsin-Platteville, its representative said: It's a hot spot for students who are brilliant. They are better than other countries in terms of speaking English. They are well versed with the language unlike China."
The universities are also providing scholarships for students.
"I am looking for a course in engineering. It would be really good if I can get scholarship or funding," 19-year old Latika Sharma said.
According to Rajarao, there are around 100,000 Indian students in the US.
The fair will be also held in Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, and Hyderabad.
