The Shiv Nadar Foundation today announced that Carnegie Mellon University, a leading global research university in the US, has named a chair the “Shiv Nadar Professor of Engineering” in honour of Shiv Nadar, Founder & Chairman, HCL and Shiv Nadar Foundation. Known for a world-class faculty whose groundbreaking research and technology innovations provide cutting edge answers to contemporary global concerns, the Carnegie Mellon recognition will pave the way for research and learning opportunities for the faculty at the University.
The chair conferred by CMU is permanent and will be reserved for engineering faculty at CMU who will be nominated to this chair on merit. The dean of CMU’s engineering school (Carnegie Institute of Technology) will select the chair-holder from among distinguished tenured members of the faculty at Carnegie Mellon. The appointee will be known as the ‘Shiv Nadar Professor of Engineering’.
On this occasion, Shiv Nadar, Founder & Chairman, HCL and Shiv Nadar Foundation said, ‘It is a privilege to receive such an honour from one of the world’s leading institutions of learning And I am grateful for this recognition. I have requested that this chair be held by an outstanding individual who has achieved national or international prominence in the engineering or allied fields.” He further added, “The Shiv Nadar Foundation has had over a decade long relationship with CMU and we hope to see this relationship get stronger over the years.
