The chancellor and Nobel Laureate Prof Amartya Sen said that he was hopeful that all six faculties at the Nalanda University will be ready by the next decade.
The Nalanda International University will start academic activities from next year. The chancellor and Nobel Laureate Prof Amartya Sen informed that the prestigious university, to be headquartered at Nalanda, will start academic activities from September-October 2014 in two subjects - historical studies and environmental studies.
After attending the governing body meeting of the university, he said that the construction of buildings for the proposed international university will commence as soon as the finalisation of the architect for designing the structure will be finalised by May.
He said that he was hopeful that all six faculties at the Nalanda University will be ready by the next decade. Another governing body member and MP NK Singh said the International Advisory Council (IAC) of the proposal university was finalised at today's meeting with the former Singapore foreign minister George Yeo and Singh himself being elected as the chairman of the IAC and chairman of the endowment committee respectively.
