MOU’s Signed by AISSMS and US Universities
The Pune based All India Shri Shivaji Memorial Society (AISSMS) has organized a two day “Indo-US Education Colloquium 2013” on February 5-6, in the city in collaboration with “Alliance for US India Business”(AUSIB). A high profile delegation of 18 representatives from US, comprising of renowned academicians and corporate is exploring opportunities for various bilateral collaborations with their Indian counterparts through this conglomeration. The objective of the colloquium is to strengthen collaborative activity and build partnership between Indian and American institutions for higher education in order to encourage mutual understanding, facilitate educational reforms and engage civil society through mutual cooperation, so as to lead towards the economic development. It will also provide an opportunity for one-to-one interaction between US and Indian participants, leading to the signing of MOU’s.
While inaugurating the colloquium The Hon’ble Shree Shahu Chhatrapati Maharaj, Kolhapur, President, AISSMS mentioned necessity of such collaborations so as to educate the people for overall development in sectors such as engineering, agriculture. These collaborations will have long lasting effects for India and United states of America. Dr. Arun Nigvekar, Former Chairman, UGC enumerated on the policy initiatives related to expanding Indo – US ties in professional education and business. He was delivering an expert lecture in Session –I. Mr. S. B. Mujumdar (President, Symbiosis), Dr. P. D. Patil (VC Dr. D. Y. Patil University), Mr. Vikas Kakatkar (VP Govt. Council Deccan education society), Shree Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati (VP AISSMS), Shree Malojiraje Chhatrapati (Chairman Governing Council, AISSMS), Capt. Shivaji Mahadkar (Hon. Secretary AISSMS), Craig A. Lang (Leader of the US delegate), Mr. Sanjay Puri (President and CEO AUSIB) were present on the dies.
On the first day, several agreements were reached between the US Universities (/Industry) and AISSMS group of Institutions. Total of Ten MOU’s were signed between AISSMS Group of Institutions and various US Universities. The institutes which signed MOU, from AISSMS group are College of Engineering, Institute of Information Technology, College of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, College of Pharmacy, Institute of Management and Industrial Training Center signed MOU’s with IOWA State University, University of IOWA, University of North IOWA and Kirkwood Community College, IOWA.
