The President’s Commission on White House Fellowship recently announced that three Indian Americans are among the 30 national finalists for 2013.
The three Indian American finalists are Jay Bhatt, a Geriatric Medicine Fellow, University of Michigan Health system; Kapil Parakh, a cardiologist with Johns Hopkins; and Shilpen Patel, an associate professor of radiation oncology at the University of Washington.
The national finalists met with President Obama’s Commission on White House Fellowships early last month. The commission will recommend between 11 and 19 individuals to President Obama for a one-year appointment as 2013-2014 White House Fellows. Those selected as Fellows will be part of the 49th class to serve in the nation’s most prestigious program for leadership and public service.
