Dr Suresh Mathivanan has joined a US$17 million science program in Australia funded by the United States' medical science funding body, the National Institutes of Health
Dr Suresh Mathivanan an Indian scientist who works at Australia’s La Trobe University has joined a lucrative US$17 million science program in Australia.The United States' medical science funding body, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), launched the program last month and Australia’s La Trobe University is the only institution outside America chosen to take part in the five-year program.
A consortium of 30 universities involved in 24 research projects will conduct research into biological molecules to diagnose and treat diseases including cancer under this program.
Dr Mathivanan is from Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu and has a Bachelor's and Master's in science - zoology and biotechnology respectively . He also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Bioinformatics with a PhD in proteomics and bioinformatics at the Institute of Bioinformatics, India and then at the Johns Hopkins University, USA.
