A doctor of Indian origin was honored with a prestigious immigrant award by the US government Wednesday in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the US health sector.
Dr. Rahul Jindal, an eminent transplant surgeon and philanthropist was presented the Outstanding American by Choice award on Nov. 13 at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
The exalted award is conferred by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), an initiative which recognizes naturalized citizens who have made significant contributions to both their community and their adopted country.
Jindal is a staff transplant surgeon at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and professor of surgery at Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. He is also a clinical professor at George Washington University.
