AUSIB will introduce Dr. Vijay K. Dhir – Dean, UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science for U.S.-India educational collaboration with major educational institutions in India.
January 3, 2013; Washington D.C: The Alliance for US India Business (AUSIB) will host Dr. Vijay K. Dhir – Dean UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science during his upcoming visit to India to discuss ways to enhance higher education between the U.S. and Maharashtra in particular.
AUSIB will introduce Dr. Dhir to the members of leading Indian educational institutions including Symbiosis Institute of Technology; Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT), Pune; and Sinhagad College of Engineering. AUSIB will closely work with Dr. Dhir towards a program that would initiate and promote further educational collaboration between UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science and Indian universities. Dr. Dhir aims to seek potential partnerships with the Indian Universities (Engineering Division) for faculty-exchange programs and joint-online courses.
Mr. Sanjay Puri – Chairman, AUSIB expressed enthusiasm and optimism about the initiative and said, “This is the start of a new beginning of joint education collaboration. Indian universities have immense potential and their collaborations with the leading U.S. educational institutions promise growth in the right direction. AUSIB will support Dr. Vijay K. Dhir in this initiative.”
Dr. Dhir received his Bachelor of Science degree from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh and Masters from IIT, Kanpur, India. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky. He joined the UCLA faculty in 1974. He has worked as a consultant for organizations including GE Corp, Rockwell International, Hughes Aircraft, Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Brookhaven and Los Alamos National Labs. He is also an advisory board member of several journals. He also currently serves on the National Research Council's Aeronautics and Space Engineering Board (ASEB).
